I was told that Walton and Duhon were demoted to the classroom and they thought they would receive their same salary of over $100k. Their new salary is $50k. Words were exchanged between them and Dr. Warrick and they were escorted off campus. This is interesting because individuals have been complaining about both of them for years.

I have no problem with this move as long as it is legal. I still think they should be totally gone. We will hear from Walton again. Feel the same way.

I was told that Walton and Duhon were demoted to the classroom and they thought they would receive their same salary of over $100k. Their new salary is $50k. Words were exchanged between them and Dr. Warrick and they were escorted off campus. This is essentially correct. Former Provost Connie R. Walton and former Vice President for Student Affairs Stacey Duhon were told to leave campus by 5:00 pm Tuesday, July 1 and not to return before January 2015. Word on campus is that they are supposed to work on special projects from home. I don't have exact figures on their new salaries. Those will be published in due time. However, the word is that their salaries are the minimum for their faculty rank. For Walton, this is a salary reduction of at least $100,000 per year. Both women are tenured faculty members. They cannot be summarily terminated without cause. A reasonable interpretation of their new employment status is that they are being given time to find other employment. If they want to return to GSU, then they will do so at substantial sacrifice. Walton has known for about six weeks that her time in GSU Administration was coming to an end. ULS President Woodley told her to resign effective May 18--Commencement Day. She prepared a letter of resignation. However, Dr. Pogue ordered her not to submit it. In the case of Duhon, there would have been a student action if Pogue had kept her on the job. He named her Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement effective May 1. Duhon had to have known that her new position would not last beyond June 30. Maybe not. Walton and Duhon got together to compose a complaint that they submitted to the UL Board of Supervisors. Their complaint dealt with alleged mistreatment associated with their new assignments and salaries. Walton left campus at 10:00 am on July 1--well ahead of her clear-out deadline 5:00 pm that same day. I just received information that she was escorted off campus. As of this writing, I do not yet know when or under what circumstances Duhon left campus.

Without giving away any confidences, would you mind describing the owners of these unclean hands and the nature of the dirt on them?

In response, I will offer that in recent years, GSU Academic Affairs have not operated or been administered beyond reproach in all aspects and in the best interests of all its stakeholders.
