Mendenhall was a monster for Grambling - the memories are just fresh as yesterday. Prayers for the Family. Class 1975.

My dad told me stories about him said he was the real deal on the line with a bunch of great players. Said they didn’t let Walter Payton score on them.

Rest in peace Big John. Was a very nice guy, but a beast on the football field.

My dad told me stories about him said he was the real deal on the line with a bunch of great players. Said they didn’t let Walter Payton score on them. That is true Grambling defense was super especially against JSU & Walter Payton - Payton had his carries / yards but paid a price. Grambling defense & offense was just loaded with talented players. It was a pleasure being at Grambling in the 70s - with replay of games on Sunday mornings, team playing games in Yankee Stadium, LA Coliseum, Houston Astrodome, Tulane Stadium / NO Superdome
