Mr. Chapman entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. The sunrise of a beautiful life commenced on August 7,1964 when Orlando was born to the late Willie "Brother" Chapman and Betty Chapman. Orlando graduated from Fair Park High School and attended Grambling State University where he played baseball for the Grambling Tigers. Orlando accepted Christ at an early age and continued his spiritual growth joining Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral, where he was a Deacon-in-training. As a young man, he answered the call to the family business by working at the historic "Freeman & Harris Café" with his grandfather, Arthur "Scrap" Chapman and father, "Brother". He later moved to "Pete Harris Café" before starting his own business in 2004 called "Brother's Seafood" in honor of his father. In 2009 Chef Orlando opened his second restaurant on Monkhouse Drive, called "Brother's Seafood To Go", and later ventured to Bossier City with another restaurant, "Brothers at Villaggio" in 2012.Orlando was affiliated with numerous organizations including "Wild Bunch Bikers Club", Agurs #6 Masonic Lodge, and currently served as President of the "Shreveport Ebony Golfers Association." Throughout his career, Chef Orlando received numerous awards and recognitions from various businesses, organizations, foundations, and communities within the State of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his father, Willie "Brother" Chapman. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: mother, Bettie Scott Chapman; sons, Damien Rashad Lewis-Chapman, Orlando L. Chapman II, and Adam Edward Chapman; sister, Fonda La-Vera Chapman; step/god children, TreMario Lewis, Steffon and Christian Peyton Jenkins, Tomi'iss and Tan'nell Peoples, LaKendria Bell; grandchildren, Imari and Carlon Lewis; special friend, Mia Jenkins; six aunts, Ola Mae Davis, Minnie Simpson, Dorothy Scott, Dorthea Williams, Mary Ann Hollins, and Hazel Washington; three uncles, Ellis (Clara) Scott; Johnny (Joan) Scott, and Van Linear; cousins; colleagues; employees; other relatives and friends. In lieu of flower, the family requests that donations be made to Praise Temple Full Gospel Cathedral Scholarship Fund in memory of Chef Orlando. - See more at: www.legacy.com/obituaries/shreveporttimes/obituary.aspx?n=orlando-chapman&pid=167169012&fhid=7411#sthash.ktUFlC13.dpuf
