On June 16, 2012 the loving hands of our Lord and Savior, lifted into eternal life our beloved Mother, Norvis Daniels Bedford.
Norvis Daniels was born June 27, 1921 to the late Drew and Everleaner Reed Daniels in the Liberty Hill Community. At an early age, she united with the Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Sister Bedford attended school at Liberty Hill and Grambling High, where she graduated with honors. She furthered her education and graduated from Grambling College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1950, and later earned the Master of Arts in Education from Prairie View A & M University. She also studied at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas and Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama.
For over 32 years, she was an avid educator. Her mission was to make certain that students learned what was necessary to get promoted to the next grade level. She would often say, “If a student has a hard time learning, I am going to give that student extra help. He or she can learn and I have the patience to teach them.”
Throughout her life she was a faithful member of the church, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was active in the missionary society and was a member of numerous clubs and organizations, but found her greatest joy in reading the Bible and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Everleaner Reed Daniels and her father, Mr. Drew Daniels, one brother Mr. Timothy Daniels and one grandson, Apollo “Dino” Sturdivant.
She leaves to cherish her memory, six children: Yvonne Rhone Dunbar of Alameda, California, Omega Simmons Sturdivant of Jonesboro, Louisiana, Weldon Gino Bedford (Denise) of Hiram, Georgia, Dr. Rory L. Bedford (Ellen) of Homer, Louisiana, Maury Bedford (Melissa) of Gautier, Mississippi, Johnetta Bedford Ware (Aundre) of Vallejo, California ; Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. Garland Daniels and Mr. Themous Daniels both of Los Angeles, California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
