Throughout our history, education has been touted as the universal key to success. Black educators for that reason, are truly the gifts to our community and those who lead at the highest levels of education are not only to be acknowledged, but celebrated. They offer guidance, help mold tomorrow’s leaders and give often times uncertain students, a sense of purpose. .... Dr. Frank G. Pogue, became the eighth president of Grambling State University in June of 2010. He stepped in briefly as interim president before assuming the role permanently. This comes after a long and storied career as president of Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. When he was granted the position in 1996 he made history as the first Black president of a historically white university in that state. After he retired in 2007, the University honored his leadership by dedicating a new student center to him. Source: Atlanta Post
