RUSTON - Governor Bobby Jindal joined higher education officials today to highlight $16.615 million in new funding for capital outlay projects at Louisiana Tech and Grambling. These investments include funding for the new business building and research park at Louisiana Tech. President of Grambling State University Dr. Frank Pogue said, "Today is a very exciting day for the Grambling community. For years, we invested valuable resources to keep Long-Jones Hall and the Library functioning - and the Governor's announcement that we're getting the funds needed to fix these issues means we'll finally be able to devote more resources to other parts of the campus. This is a historic day for GSU - these investments will vastly improve our campus and our students' learning environment - and I want to express appreciation to the Governor and the Legislature for making Grambling a priority - even during this difficult budget cycle." www.katc.com/news/governor-jindal-highlights-16-615-million-in-funding-for-la-tech-and-grambling-capital-outlay-projects/

This is great for Grambling, but we seem to be always in maintenance mode.

The Library and Long Jones are long overdue for repairs, etc. I'm just happy that something is finally being done about the library and like Dr. Pogue said that allows Grambling to use other funds in other areas of the campus. Majority of the campus is practically new or close to it, i would like some monies to fix up Carver a little bit more and start really focusing to expand into research. The areas i would love for Grambling to focus on is to move into research as an institution, on-line degrees and upgrade the athletic facilities, all 3 areas are money makers and help for longevity and attracts.

I would like for GSU to get a loan from the HBCU Capital Finance Program for a new Library and Science Center but we like begging the State. Wiley College is doing this for their new Science building and Tuskegee got their loan last year to build their new Science Center. Now back to GSU, the main section of Carver Hall is going to get some repairs this Fall. The bidding is set for Aug. 4th. The annex is going to get some repairs with heating/ac repairs as well as replacement of interior ceilings in the corridors. The entire roof was replaced this past year. Also Dunbar Hall is on the list for renovations this fiscal year as well and the funding has been approved.

Good news. So other monies really can go towards other areas. Grambling should really focus on academics even more and upgrading athletics. We have nice dorms now, Grambling Hall, Cafeteria, new music building, field horse, Student Union etc. Now it's time to get more programs to attract more and on-line degrees is the way yo go and upgrading athletic facilities.

Oh i know politics is apart of this but if GSU is benefiting it is what it is. I know Jindal is doing these things to get re-elected, "But" it's not like the alumni is just pumping money into the university and i agree with you we do need much more so we as alumni should take up the slack because we know that we aren't going to get everything we are due from the state.

That's not Grambling's fault. Many of those people's parents are putting in their heads that white is right. Why would we want someone who doesn't have Grambling in their hearts? Grambling has 1800 plus freshmen coming in that's a great start to build enrollment and the good thing they chose to come to Grambling and not go to Tech.

Hell i had a black girl friend tell me back in the day that the ice at Tech was colder than the ice in Grambling. If i told yall her name some of yall would know her: NOW she all over and into being Grambling now.
