Dear Alums:
We are getting ready for Homecoming 2010 and Bayou Classic 2010. Homecoming is November 5th-6th and Bayou Classic is November 26th-27th. Preparations are being made for you and we are looking forward to having a really great time at the annual events.
The GUNAA Homecoming schedule is as follows:
Friday 8:00 am Golf Classic Trails End Arcadia, LA
9:00 am Registration Alumni Center
10:00 am Convocation Hutchinson Building
7:00 pm. Black and Gold Banquet
Saturday 7:00 am Breakfast McCall Hall
9:00 am. Parade Main Street
After Game Hospitality Alumni Center
The Bayou Classic seems to be shaping up to be another fun filled weekend. The Coaches Luncheon, the Battle of the Bands/Greek Show, the annual Bayou Classic Breakfast, the ever exciting gridiron contest and the Annual Scholarship Concert are the slated activities. We are again lodging at the Riverfront Hilton Hotel. The rate for the hotel rooms is 139.00 for single –quads ( we are still working with the hotel to make some adjustments). The code for the room block is simply GRA. Please call the Hilton reservation at 1-800-HILTONS.
This year, the Blues Concert will feature “The Hole in the Wall” man, Mel Waiters as entertainment. Tickets are reserved on a first-come-first-served basis and can be purchased at the Alumni Center. Currently, we are attempting to establish agreements with your local alumni chapters for sales. We are asking each chapter to be responsible to sell a minimum of fifty concert tickets. Ticket prices are $35.00 (single) or $350.00 for a table of 10. As is traditional, the concert will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton.
Our main fundraising activity for this year is a raffle. The prize for the raffle is $5,000.00. Tickets are $5.00 each. Funds from this raffle will be used for scholarships and operational expenses. We need your support to have a successful activity. Please sell all of the enclosed tickets. Once you have sold/purchased the 20 tickets, please return the stubs and payment to the national office by November 18, 2010. All checks/money orders must be made payable to GUNAA (please no cash by mail).
Enclosed, you will find the Homecoming Registration form. Please complete and return by November 1st.
Your continued support of GUNAA is greatly appreciated. The tradition of LNNII/Grambling College/Grambling State University lives on in each of us.
Yours truly,
Clifton Lemelle
