I think it is time for a DC change, when asked about how he feels about the defensive performance, all he says is that they are winning and making excuses about the offense scoring so much that they are in bad positions. at this point, the games against Southern and Alcorn will be shootouts. But Alcorn can play defense, we can lose to Alcorn and rematch in the Swac Championship but we cannot lose to Southern and make the Swac Championship, and honestly we don't know yet if our offense is better than southern. No one wants to keep winning by these shutouts, its sad when you have a team that needs to score in the mid 50's to win. we've given up over 50 points 3 times this season. Jackson state can score some points, so we shouldn't sleep on them, hopefully they'll rebound against J-state. But if he gives up another 50 point Bayou Classic, he should be replaced come next year

The Head Coach wanted this guy for DC - what does this say about the Head Coach decision making or about his ability to make a change for the betterment of the team. At least change the defensive scheme.

all it says is that the coach made a bad decision. but he can correct himself, coaches get rid of coordinators all the time, it aint no thing for him to find another coach who is a db's coach, LB's coach, on DL coach on a bigger school staff and make them coordinator, i just hope he goes out of the Swac to find one if he does

As I was saying on some other threads, way to early to panic. I don't deny that there are some defensive issues. There were some all last year. They had been giving up big plays last year. Things could turn around for the good or could get worse. But no coach anywhere is going to make changes this significant, especially when you are in the position you are in conference. Worrying about Southern and Alcorn is not going to help either as they are teams to play down the road. Nothing is guaranteed, no matter what fans, media or anybody's expectations may be.
You are never going to get any quality DC to Grambling if after a 2-0 conference record, people want him fired.

Now where in the world did I say or feel the Graves is trash based on what I posted. You just pull stuff out of thin air. I don't debate with people that start talking crazy. This thread is all yours. My goodness.

I don't think he should get rid of the coordinator mid season, but when this season is over, the DC has to go, and I am looking ahead to Alcorn and Southern, those are the only two teams in the Swac that i feel like Gram cannot get past with a mediocre defense

bam11bam just remember we are not 3-0 in the conference because of the defence but rather a damn good offence. When we meet the right defence with the correct scheme we will lose and in 2 weeks on we will meet them, yet in 5 weeks our defence has not been corrected. You do the math, two loses in the works and it all fall on the shoulders of coach Fobbs and his devotion to friendship.

Have you thought that in two weeks the other team may finally come across the right offense that will beat their defense? Or so called defense , seeing as though they have not played anybody yet. So you have chalked up two games that will be loss. Same defense from last year and nobody did not expect Grambling to win against Alcorn and they won in a low scoring affair. There is still time for things to happen. You 3-0 no matter how it is done. Don't give up so easy.

I have a friend on the staff and the Team Chemistry among the coaches is good. Graves likes the Scheme and likes working with Todd. Although it's a 3 man front, it easily morphs into a 4-3 or a 5-2 on the snap. In recent games, the tackling has gotten better and the corners are holding up defending the pass. Initially, I didn't like the cushion and it seems we have done a better job in taking away the crossing routes and especially at getting off the field on 3rd down. Was surprised with the youth of so many of the linebackers.

Defense is playing better no reason to replace anybody just continue to win, the defense has improved from last year to this year and will get better as the years to come. I like the staff that Coach has put together and all my trust is in him, Pretty good record so far from a first time head coach. His record so far as to this time is better than Coach Hopson record at Alcorn and he stated its takes about 3 years to put together a winner.

Let us not confuse the defense playing better to the defense playing inferior offenses. TXSU and uapb conference record was like 2-10.

The defense also performed well against Alcorn... but admittedly they are not a good passing team.

Lane College held BCU to 7 points.....WTH?.....I will only advise you guys to read the current article in the Monroe Newsstar talking about ULM's defense that is embedded in the 3-3-5 defense.....If we are lucky, maybe ULM will hire Coach Todd back and we can move forward.

Our defense shut Alcorn out the entire second half. They didn't score second half. So maybe they are getting better. I expect that defense to be much better next year.

I think the defense is playing better and I told you all that it was too early to start that firing talk, especially when team was winning. Just settle and let it play out. Not saying defense is lock down right now, but they are gaining confidence and momentum at the right time.
These next two and possibly three games will certainly test them. But if TEAM pulls out the win, despite what defense does, I'm good!

Didn't that same defense give up 600 yards, 459 passing, and 28 first downs to the sorriest team(UAPB) in the SWAC in it's last outing?.....Knowing that, we can't settle down......Todd must have promised you a job.

But did UAPB win the game? Defense gave up a lot to PV, did they win the game. What about Alcorn? Did they win the game. Winning is the only thing that matters. You can not be swac west champs, top 25 fcs team, number 1 in BCF without winning.
I told you I still don't think defense is lock down, but I think they are much better. I also think this defense is much better than the defensive team played in the classic last year.

Bam Like like Coach Rob always said, when great men talk about football games, they don't talk about how the gams was played all they want to know is what was the final scores.
