Former Grambling State University Lady Basketball player Shrieka Evans was the Division 1 leader in three point field goals in 2000 & 2001. She also led Division 1 in steals in 2002. Attachments:

What about Darius Mc Cray(Eddie) from Family Matters? His mom attended GSU. I think she was from New Orleans. I have seen Darius at GSU during homecoming games.

Judi Ann Mason, television writer, producer and playwright, was born on this day in 1955. Ms. Mason excelled in English and became interested in playwrighting while in high school. Her professional writing career began while a drama student at Grambling State University. While attending Grambling, she won the Norman Lear Award for comedy writing from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for her play, 'Livin’ Fat.' The following year she won the Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award for 'A Star Ain’t Nothin’ But A Hole In Heaven.' She was named one of Glamour Magazines' Top Ten College women in 1977 alongside her friend, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph. Ms. Mason also taught playwriting and screenwriting at a number of colleges and universities for over twenty years. Her television writing credits include 'Good Times,' 'Sanford and Son,' ' A Different World,' 'Beverly Hills, 90210,' ' I'll Fly Away,' 'American Gothic,' 'Generations,' and 'Guiding Light.' Her film credits include 'Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.' She is also renowned for the Emmy Award/CableACE Award nominated 'Sophie And The Moonhanger.' Her stageplay credits include 'The Cornbread Man' and 'Indigo Blues.' Ms. Mason died unexpectedly of a ruptured abdominal aorta in July 2009. Attachments:

Richard V. Stebbins Richard Vaughn Stebbins won a gold medal in 4x100 m relay at the 1964 Summer Olympics. At the Tokyo Olympics, Richard Stebbins finished seventh in 200m and ran the third leg in the gold medal winning American 4x100 m relay team, which set a new world record of 39.0. Stebbins grew up in Los Angeles, and later attended Grambling State University, where he played football and ran track. Following his college career, he was drafted as an wide receiver by the New York Giants in 1967. Stebbins is a member of the Grambling Legends HOF. [youtube] Attachments:

Grambling College Marching Bands "Tiger Time" album In 1971 65 members of the 135 piece Grambling College Marching Band went into a the studio and recorded what was believed at the time to be the first album for a marching band. The album contains traditional marches like Qui-Vive, Thunder West, 650 East along with current R&B turned such as The Love You Save and I'll Be There by the Jackson 5. Ball of Confusion by the Temptations. The Grambling Fight Song and Alma Mater with the Grambling Choir as special guest was added to the record. The album was produced through the efforts of Black Associated Sports Enterprises (BASE) of Los Angeles. The idea was conceived by James Hunter, President of BASE, through his association with Irwin Steinberg, President and Charles Fach, VP of Mercury Records. Attachments:

Willis Reed Willis Reed (born June 25, 1942) was an NBA basketball player. He spent his entire professional playing career (1964–1974) with the New York Knicks. In 1982, Reed was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. In 1997, he was voted one of the "50 Greatest Players in NBA History". He attended Grambling College. Reed amassed 2,280 career points, averaging 26.6 points and 21.3 rebounds during his senior year. He led the Grambling College to one NAIA title and three Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships. In 1964, Reed was drafted in the first round (eighth overall) by the Knicks. He also began his string of All-Star appearances and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year. Reed was a coach at the college and professional level. He was also GM and VP of Basketball Operations for the NJ Nets and VP of Basketball Operations for the New Orleans Hornets. Reed retired in 2007 and resides in Grambling, LA area. Attachments:

Coach Patricia Bibbs Patricia Cage-Bibbs initially entered coaching to help her alma mater Grambling State University put its fledgling women’s basketball program on secure ground. More than a quarter century later she is partly responsible for helping the fledgling sport of women’s basketball flourish. During a coaching career that has spanned nearly three decades, Patricia Cage-Bibbs has experienced plenty of success and championships. Now as she returns back to Grambling State University to lead the women’s basketball program at her alma mater, Coach Bibbs will carry with her the recognition of having acheived 500 career wins.
